Visitation

All visitors to Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home (CJDH) are subject to search upon entry:

  • Visitors not wearing appropriate attire or who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed entry.
  • Hostile, argumentative or disruptive visitors will be asked to leave immediately.

Visitation for Parents and Legal Guardians

Beginning Nov. 18, 2022, the Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home will discontinue non-contact visitation and only offer in-person visitation. Visitation for pre-d residents will be held Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and visitation for residents in treatment programs (Post-D and CPP) will be held Sundays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. For any scheduling concerns, please call 804-748-1460 and ask to speak with an administrator.

Extended family visitation for treatment programs has resumed and takes place the first Sunday of every month during regularly-scheduled visitation (3:30-4:30 p.m.).

Parental Visitation

Parental visitation is limited to parents, stepparents, and legal guardians. No other family members are permitted to visit without prior administrative approval. Picture identification is required for entry.

Visitation Hours

The hours for visitation are:

  • Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m. for pre-dispositional residents
  • Sundays, 3:30-4:30 p.m. for residents in treatment programs

Alternate visiting times require prior administrative approval.

Items Not Permitted

  • Cameras
  • Cell phones
  • Food and beverages
  • Keys
  • Lighters
  • Mail (can only be distributed through the U.S. Postal Service)
  • Purses
  • Tobacco products
  • Weapons

This list is not considered all-inclusive and CJDH reserves the right to prohibit any items considered a safety and security risk from being brought into the facility. Please leave all items in your car or use the lockers provided free-of-charge in the visitor’s lobby.

Items Allowed

  • Medication - View Medical Services for more information on prescription medications
  • Money - You may leave money for the residents to purchase soft drinks and items from the snack machine on weekends
  • Any other items require administrative approval
