Visit Chesterfield Parks and Facilities

The Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department offers many opportunities to engage in recreation and outdoor pursuits. The county is home to many parks and athletic complexes, where sports tournaments and athletic events are hosted. In addition, the parks system maintains historic sites, an extensive trail system and conservation areas. Our indoor facility inventory includes four recreation centers (Bensley, Beulah, Ettrick and Stonebridge), the Rockwood Nature Center and the exhibition building at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds.

Rent or Reserve Facilities

Athletic Field and Facility Rentals

For all athletic reservation requests, visit Play Chesterfield and complete the local field rental form.

    As of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, all baseball and softball fields are closed.
Field closing information for athletic sites is updated Monday through Friday at 4 p.m. Decisions regarding weekend play at outdoor sites are made by league commissioners. Sign up for status notifications.

Park Safety

General Parks Rules

Please be respectful and considerate of others. Park hours are dawn to dusk (unless using lighted facility). Per county ordinance and park regulations, the following are prohibited:

  • Collecting of any plants, animals or any artifact (natural or cultural) is prohibited unless approved by Parks and Recreation
  • Dogs off leash (all must be on leash)
  • Dumping or littering of any material or waste
  • Illegal possession of weapons
  • Open fires (except for when using park grills)
  • Parking in undesignated areas
  • Pets on the athletic fields
  • Profanity
  • Release of domesticated animals or wildlife on county property
  • Smoking in posted smoke-free areas
  • Swimming
  • Trespassing or loitering (after park hours)
  • Use of illegal drugs, marijuana or alcohol

Trail Rules

At all trails, remember to leave no trace, to share the trails and to be considerate of other users. Trail hours are from dawn to dusk.

  • All dogs must be leashed; dog waste must be cleaned up by owners
  • Collecting of any plants, animals or any artifact (natural or cultural) is prohibited unless approved by Parks and Recreation
  • Feeding of wildlife is prohibited
  • No person shall capture, pursue, injure, attempt to injure, kill or attempt to kill any animal in any park
  • No dumping or littering of any waste material
  • Share the trails
  • Use trails at own risk

Water Access Rules

  • All locations - no swimming
  • County and state rules and ordinances apply at all times
  • Do not litter or dump waste
  • Fishing regulations follow Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources regulations
  • No alcohol allowed
  • Park in designated parking areas
  • Personal flotation devices are required

Wildlife

Parks and Recreation does not accept, transport or rehabilitate injured or orphaned wildlife. Please contact the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources if you encounter wildlife that needs help.
