Chesterfield Building Inspection works in collaboration with members of community development to promote safe construction from the ground up. Apply Online Using the Enterprise Land Management (ELM) Portal

The Enterprise Land Management (ELM) citizen access portal assists in completing functions across Community Development departments for planning, zoning and development, permitting and inspections, utility connections and code enforcement. Learn more about the ELM portal.

By submitting projects online, users can track progress and request inspections. Most documents can be submitted as PDF documents. Customers may apply through mail, courier or fax.

Phone-in and Web Holiday Inspection Schedule

To schedule a building inspection, call 804-751-4444, available seven days a week. For more information, view how to request inspections through the interactive voice response (IVR) system (PDF), the automated inspection scheduling system.

Inspections can be scheduled up to five business days in advance. If an inspection is requested by 11:59 p.m., that inspection will be performed the next open business day (or the indicated date within five business days). To cancel an inspection, please call 804-751-4444 by 11:59 p.m. the day prior to the scheduled inspection date.
