Property Tax Due Date Approaching - June 5, 2023
Attention Chesterfield County Taxpayers: The property tax due date, as set by county ordinance, is quickly approaching. Please ensure that your taxes are paid on or before June 5, 2023, to avoid a 10% penalty. Interest will accrue after June 30, 2023.

Real Estate Assessment
For questions about the assessment on your land or building, visit the Real Estate Assessments webpage or call 804-748-1321.
Vehicle or Business
Visit the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue webpage or call 804-748-1281 for questions about the following:
- Assessed value of your vehicle or business equipment
- Closed or moved your business
- Moved a vehicle to/from another locality/state
- Purchase or sale (disposal) of a vehicle
Adjustments
Utilities Bill (Water and Wastewater Bill)
Utilities adjustments information is available on the rates and fees webpage. High usage and leaks may be the reason for a larger than expected utilities bill.

Fees
Opt-In Recycling Fee
Chesterfield County offers a biweekly curbside recycling program to residents for an annual cost of $41. For more information, please visit the curbside recycling webpage or call the Waste and Resource Recovery division of General Services at 804-748-1297.
Stormwater Fee
Developed residential and commercial properties are subject to an annual stormwater utility fee. For more information, please visit the Environmental Engineering webpage or call 804-748-1035.
Vehicle Registration Fee
An annual registration fee must be paid for every vehicle, trailer or semitrailer garaged, stored or parked in Chesterfield County. Vehicle registration fees are not prorated, nor are they refunded or transferable. Registration fees paid in the current year to another locality will be honored by Chesterfield in the current year.
Effective Jan. 1, 2022, the Board of Supervisors approved the following vehicle registration fees:
- Motor Vehicles - $20
- Motorcycles - $15
- Trailers - $10
- Antique Motor Vehicles (25 years or older) - No charge
