Road projects managed by Transportation are listed under upcoming projects, under construction or recently completed. Below are upcoming projects. The Virginia Department of Transportation also manages projects in the county.

Belmont Road (Whitepine Road to Corcoran Drive) Drainage Culvert
County Drainage Improvement Bond Funds will be used to construct a multiple barrel box culvert and curve realignment on Belmont Road between Whitepine Road and Corcoran Drive to address routine flooding.

Brad McNeer Parkway to Commonwealth Center Parkway Free-Flow Right Turn Lane
VDOT secondary road funding will be used to design and construct a free-flow right turn lane from Brad McNeer Parkway to Commonwealth Center Parkway.

Center Pointe Parkway Extension
Local funding will be used for the preliminary engineering and right-of-way acquisition association with extending Center Pointe Parkway from the current dead end at Tomahawk Creek Road to a new intersection at Old Hundred Road.

Centralia Road/Old Wrexham Road Intersection Improvements
Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA) funds are being used to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Centralia Road and Old Wrexham Road.

Henricus Park Access Road
A new two-lane roadway will be constructed from Henricus Park to Corporate Village Parkway

I-95/Willis Road Interchange Improvements
Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA) funds are being used to design interchange improvements at I-95 and Willis Road. Preliminary Engineering is underway.

Lakeview Road Branders Bridge
Federal funds have been secured to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Lakeview Road and Branders Bridge Road. Preliminary engineering is underway. Construction is anticipated for Spring 2023

Monath Road Rural Addition
The County and The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) have determined that this non-state-maintained section of Monath Road qualifies for upgrades and hard surfacing using state rural addition funds. Monath will be taken into the state system for maintenance. The work will entail establishing existing ditches, replacing/extending pipes, tree trimming, reshaping of the roadbed and surface treatment of the road.

Nash Road Extension (Beach Road to Route 10)
Revenue Sharing funds (50% state funds and 50% County funds) will be used to extend Nash Road from Beach Road to Route 10 to relieve area congestion.

Powhite Parkway Extension
Efforts are underway to develop the first stage of the Powhite Parkway Extension, an extension to Woolridge Road.

Route 1 (Falling Creek Wayside Park to Food Lion) Shared-Use Path
Federal Smart Scale funding has been secured to construct a shared-use path along Route 1 between Falling Creek Wayside Park and Food Lion, north of Chippenham Parkway.

Route 60 at North Otterdale Road Dual Left Lanes
County Road Cash Proffer Funds will be used to design dual left turn lanes on east bound Route 60 onto North Otterdale Road.

Route 60 at Woolridge Road/Old Buckingham Rd RCUT
Smart Scale funds will be used to construct a superstreet intersection at Route 60 and Woolridge Road/Old Buckingham Road. Preliminary Engineering is underway. A citizen information meeting will be scheduled to get feedback from the public on a concept design and is anticipated for early 2021.

Route 288 Northbound Fly-Over Off-Ramp to the Bailey Bridge Connector
Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA) funds are being used to design the Route 288 Northbound Fly-Over Off-Ramp to the Bailey Bridge Connector project.

Route 288 South to Hull Street Road Westbound Ramp
Route 288 Southbound to Hull Street Road Westbound ramp improvement and Park-and-Ride lot

Smoketree Drive and Gordon School Road - Road Diet Study
A study is under review by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for a road diet on Smoketree Drive and Gordon School Road. The study identifies short-term and long-term improvements for the roads.

Woods Edge Safety Improvements
Chesterfield County General Roadway Improvement funds are being used to widen Woods Edge Road north of I-95 in order to a) provide left turn lanes into Southcreek Drive and Walthall Creek Drive and b) a sidewalk connection on the east side of Woods Edge Road between Southcreek Drive and Walthall Creek Drive.

Woolridge Road Extension - 288 to Old Hundred Road
State and local revenue sharing funds and CVTA funds have been obtained to extend Woolridge Road from Route 288 to Old Hundred Road to improve the local road network. Chesterfield County is using multiple stages of public engagement during the development of this project. Woolridge Road Widening (Lacoc Road to Genito Road)
Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA) funds have been identified to improve the intersection of Woolridge Road and Watermill Parkway, and widen Woolridge Road to a four-lane roadway from Watermill Parkway to Genito Road.
