Chesterfield County Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is an all-hazards emergency response agency dedicated to workforce diversity. As leaders in providing quality community fire and life safety prevention, fire protection, emergency medical and emergency management services, Fire and EMS protect life, property and the environment.

The Fire and EMS Department is comprised of 23 Fire and EMS stations, four volunteer rescue squads, and a combination system comprised of 540 career members and 190 volunteer firefighters and emergency medical responders. Our personnel provide first class customer service to a diverse population of more than 365,000 residents.

Receive Emergency Alerts

Receive alerts about emergencies and other important community news through Chesterfield Alert, our emergency alert program. This system enables Chesterfield to provide critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods.

Provide Emergency Contact Information

Chesterfield maintains emergency contact information to assist during emergency responses. Owners and managers of locations such as apartment communities, businesses and places of worship in Chesterfield County are encouraged to provide location information, authorized emergency contacts, owner/management company information and emergency equipment (AEDs, alarm/gate codes, knox boxes, fire systems, security systems, etc.). Provide your emergency contact information or learn more regarding alarm systems permits and false alarms.

 Matoaca Fire Station Replacement

A contract has been awarded for the design and construction of a replacement fire station on the existing Matoaca Fire Station site. The estimated cost of this project $12.5 million and the projected completion date is 2023.
