Waste and Resource Recovery Division
Leader in Environmental, Health and Safety Management
The Waste and Resource Recovery (WARR) Division is a leader environmental stewardship and has achieved Exemplary Environmental Enterprise (E3) status in the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality's Environmental Excellence Program. Chesterfield advocates, along with Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) and our regional partners, for reduction and reuse strategies to lower solid waste generated. The county recognizes the importance of recycling and its effectiveness in reducing the volume of household waste that ends up in landfills.
WARR provides citizens with safe and cost-effective waste disposal, recycling options and services such as free mulch for residents. The two convenience centers for residential waste disposal and recycling divert approximately 40% of all incoming materials from local landfills. The division also oversees debris management operations during severe weather events.
Residential trash disposal and recycling services in the county are provided by private waste management companies operating in the area.
