Lost, Found and Impounded Pets

Reuniting Pets and Owners

Animal Services understands that losing a pet is a very upsetting and stressful experience. Our goal is to help reunite you with your pet as soon as possible. View a video about what to do if you have lost or found a pet.

Lost Pets

In addition to completing the lost pet report, please be sure to visit to the Chesterfield Animal Shelter. Descriptions of pets can sometimes vary, so physically visiting the shelter and looking at the animals is the best way to be reunited.

Lost reports are purged every 30 days. If your pet is still missing after 30 days, please submit a new lost report.

Other Actions You Can to Find Your Pet

  • Post signs in your area in the event someone has found your pet.
  • Post your missing pet on various local lost and found pet Facebook pages.
  • Create a digital alert on Petco Love Lost.
  • Search Petco Love Lost for found pets in the Chesterfield Animal Shelter.

Petco Love Lost

Free Ride Home Program

The Chesterfield County Police Department's Animal Services Unit offers a free ride home to any dog or cat wearing a tag that displays its owner's information. The program, which is operated at no cost to the pet owner, reunites lost dogs and cats with their owners.

Personalized tags, microchips and county dog license tags allow Animal Services Officers to contact owners and get pets home, rather than take them to the Animal Shelter.
