Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services
The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is a combined agency serving both Chesterfield County and the City of Colonial Heights. In collaboration with individuals, families and the community, Social Services provides: advocacy and excellent services that encourage self-sufficiency; preserves and restores families; and protects the well-being of children, senior citizens and people with disabilities. The Social Services Board, comprised of nine members representing both localities, governs the Department of Social Services. Emergency Services and Needs
The Assessment and Resource Team responds to requests for families in crisis for emergency services such as conflict resolution, emergency shelter and financial assistance and emergency needs such as food, medication, rental and utility assistance. To request emergency services, call 804-748-1100 and ask for an Assessment and Resource Team member. Visit during office hours without an appointment to be screened for services and provided with information about community resources and programs. For assistance from other community resources, contact the United Way by dialing 211.
Disability Assistance and Accommodation
The Public Portal for Concerns and Assistance is available 24/7 to request assistance or accommodation. Additionally, requests can be made by calling 804-748-1100 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.
