Keeping Chesterfield County Moving
Chesterfield County Fleet Services, a division of the county’s General Services Department, maintains approximately 2,800 vehicles and another 400 trailers and off-road vehicles so the county remains in the field ready to serve the citizens of Chesterfield. From school buses to law enforcement vehicles to fire apparatus, Fleet Services provides preventative maintenance and vehicle repair, fueling infrastructure, motor pool vehicles and other ancillary services to county government departments and Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS). The division, which includes nearly 90 team members across five facilities, has been recognized in the industry as a Top 20 Leading Fleet and a Top 50 Green Fleet. Fleet Services has also been named a Top 100 Public Fleet in the USA for the past four consecutive years.
Most recently, Chesterfield Fleet Services opened a new 16-bay, 34,000-square-foot heavy shop and administrative facility that houses 25 employees, including fleet management, administrative support staff and heavy shop technicians. The new facility broke ground in 2021 and began operations in early 2023.
