Bike and Pedestrian Improvements

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Chesterfield County to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians in the planning, funding, design, construction, operation and maintenance of Virginia’s transportation network. These accommodations seek to provide the public with access to the transportation network, connections to alternate modes of transportation, and allow for personal transportation regardless of age, ability or income. Road Projects in Stages of Development

Road projects managed by Transportation are listed under upcoming projects, under construction or recently completed. The various stages of project development include design (or preliminary engineering (PE)), right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation and construction. The Virginia Department of Transportation also manages projects in the county.

Streamline 360/288

Streamline 360/288 Improvements is a multi-year, phased plan of multiple roadway projects to ensure safer, faster and more efficient travel along Route 360 and Route 288.

Transportation Studies

Transportation regularly conducts studies to identify solutions for a variety of transportation needs, including roadway congestion/operations/safety, bike and pedestrian accommodations, and transit services. Studies include conceptual sketches, cost estimates and provide the supporting data necessary as Transportation seeks funding for the improvements.
