Virtual Classes and Consulting
Due to limitations on public gatherings that were put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19, Prevention Services is currently offering virtual classes and parent consultation instead of in-person classes.

Living Apart Parenting Together

This two-session, four-hour seminar is mandated under the Virginia code sections 16.1-78.15 and 20-103.

Active Parenting of Teens and Tweens

Class for parents with children ages 10-15.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

Virtual class to provide education to raise awareness about the impact of ACEs and discuss strategies for building individual and community wellness and resilience. 

Business of Co-Parenting

Class designed to help co-parents communicate respectfully and understand the effects of high parental conflict on children.

Five Bridges

Learn strategies and tools that can be incorporated into your personal wellness plan through virtual classes and workshops.

Mental Health First Aid

This virtual class for adults 18 and over teaches an action plan to offer initial help to adults with signs and symptoms of a mental illness or crisis and connect them with care.

Mental Health First Aid Youth

This virtual class for adults 18 and over teaches an action plan to offer initial help to youth with signs and symptoms of a mental illness or crisis and connect them with care.

Parent/Family Consultation

Free meetings by phone or virtual chat with parents or caregivers to discuss parenting concerns such as parenting stress during COVID-19, effective discipline, communication, preventing risky behaviors and helping children manage strong feelings.

Suicide Awareness and Prevention Workshops

The Chesterfield Suicide Awareness and Prevention Coalition offers monthly workshops to the public related to recognizing and responding to signs of suicide.

Understanding Your Young Child

Class for parents with children birth to six years old.
