Public Safety Cadets Unit 609

The Chesterfield County Police Public Safety Cadet Program is a volunteer program for young people who want to learn about law enforcement and criminal justice professions. Cadets can:

  • Ride along with officers
  • Participate in community events
  • Participate in competitions
  • Other activities

Member Requirements

Members must do the following:

  • Have completed the eighth grade and be between the ages of 14 and 21.
  • Be residents of Chesterfield County. (Note: Exceptions may be made for youth who live in a locality without a cadet program.)
  • Be of good moral character and personal habits.
  • Be enrolled in high school with a 2.0 GPA, or have already obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Purchase some uniform items.
