Commendations

Chesterfield County Police Department employees are eligible to receive letters of recognition, department citations and community-sponsored awards. All calls and letters received will be brought to the attention of the department member and his or her supervisors.

Concerns

To ensure the reliability and integrity of the Chesterfield County Police Department, we provide an open and receptive system that encourages community members to report sincere concerns or complaints of misconduct. All inquiries of employee misconduct will be received, thoroughly documented and confidentially investigated. Anonymous complaints will also be accepted.

To commend or share a concern about an employee or employees, you can:

  • Complete and submit the online commendation and concern form.
  • Call 804-748-1207 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Call 804-748-1251 after hours and on weekends and holidays and ask for an on-duty supervisor to contact you.
  • Write a letter to the Office of the Chief of Police at:

  • Submit an email to the Police Department.

We recognize the need to file legitimate complaints or concerns about police officers or members of the department, however, individuals who knowingly file false allegations against police personnel can be held criminally or civilly liable.

CALEA Accreditation Public Comment Portal 

The purpose of this public portal is to receive comments regarding an agency's compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.

IMPORTANT: CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes.  Additionally, there will be no response other than acknowledgement to submissions; however, the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA® Accreditation.
