Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any time, and community training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) can save lives. First step to saving a life is to learn CPR. Fire and EMS is providing hands-only CPR and AED awareness training for residents. Register online for this free hour-long class on Monday, Nov. 21 at Ettrick-Matoaca Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. It will teach you how to perform hands-only CPR immediately after a cardiac event in order to improve survival rates. Classes are available for those age 13 and older (13-17 year-olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). Participants will not receive CPR/AED certifications for completing the class.
