Three Kings Celebration
Saturday, January 7, 2023
Citizen Information and Resources' (CIR) Office of Diversity and Inclusion, in partnership with the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother and St. Augustine Catholic Church, is excited to host the Three Kings celebration event on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church (4400 Beulah Road).
This celebration has been a longstanding tradition in Chesterfield and provides a family-friendly cultural event for the general community but specifically draws members from the local immigrant Latino community. The event includes a Three Kings picture station (with first responders dressing as the Three Kings), children's crafts, and county and non-profit resource tables. St. Augustine will be holding a story narration and acting skit at 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. which will provide education on the Three Kings story.
The event will also include free pan dulce (sweet bread) and Mexican hot chocolate with the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother and Children's Museum of Richmond also sponsoring some fun giveaways for youth that will participate in a scavenger hunt. There will also be representatives from various county departments and partner organizations sharing community resources and information.
Part of the mission of the county’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion is to enhance engagement, promote inclusivity, celebrate diversity, and increase accessibility to county services and opportunities through free and accessible community events like this one, which celebrates the Three Kings holiday recognized worldwide in countries such as Mexico, Spain, France, Bulgaria and others.
