CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Police have arrested a suspect who robbed the Atlantic Union Bank at 11101 Hull Street Road on Thursday, Jan. 16. No one was injured during the incident.
At about 9:35 a.m. today, a male suspect entered the business, approached a teller, displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money. Upon receiving cash, the suspect fled in a vehicle. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect vehicle, which an officer was able to locate nearby. The suspect, identified as Robert L. Burton, 54, was apprehended without further incident.
Burton, of the 8900 block of Pepperidge Road in Chesterfield, was arrested and charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to today’s robbery. Burton has also been charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to the Sept. 14, 2019, robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 10831 Midlothian Turnpike. Chesterfield Police investigated both incidents in collaboration with the FBI Violent Crime Task Force.
Burton is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
