CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police have arrested a suspect in relation to a homicide that occurred in the 7200 block of Cherry Hill Park Avenue on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020.
At about 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2020, police responded to a residence in the 7200 block of Cherry Hill Park Avenue for a report of a male outside a residence with a stab wound. Upon arrival, police located Jamar R. Golightly, 33, who was unconscious and had been stabbed. Golightly, of the 7200 block of Cherry Hill Park Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives have arrested Carl A. Wilkins, 30, of the 7200 block of Cherry Hill Park Avenue, for second-degree murder. He is currently being held in the Chesterfield County Jail pending a court appearance.
The investigation indicates that a verbal altercation took place prior to the stabbing and that Golightly and Wilkins were known to each other.
