CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Police have arrested a man in relation to a shooting that occurred at Chesterfield Towne Center, 11500 Midlothian Turnpike, on Tuesday, June 23.
At about 6:10 p.m. on June 23, police responded to a report of a shooting in the food court at Chesterfield Towne Center. Once on scene, officers located one adult male victim who had been shot. The victim was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The initial investigation indicated the shooting was the result of a fight between two individuals. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene and was described as a black male wearing a white T-shirt.
At around 2 a.m. on June 24, detectives located the shooting suspect, who was identified as William Ezell Taylor Jr., 23, of the 800 block of Hinton Street in Petersburg. Taylor was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
