CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police have arrested two people in relation to a homicide that took place on Sept. 26, 2019, in the 6200 block of Gatesgreen Drive.
At 4:13 a.m. on Sept. 26, 2019 police and Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded to a report of a silver-colored Hyundai Elantra that had driven into a yard and front porch of a home. Officers located an adult male in the vehicle; he was unconscious and suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim has been identified as Bryson Andrew Mitchell, 18, of the 11800 block of Boyd Road in Chester. Mitchell was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In June, police obtained indictments for Samira D Tarabay-Whitfield, 21, for accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice. Tarabay, of the 4700 block of Watchrun Drive was arrested on July 7 and is currently on bond pending a hearing in Chesterfield General District Court.
In August, police obtained indictments for Demetrius D Roots, Jr., 20, for first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Roots, of the 3900 block of Passage Way Drive was arrested on Aug. 19 and is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond pending a pre trial appearance on Aug 20 at 9:30 a.m.
