CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in the 13100 block of Kingston Avenue at about 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5.
Police said a 2015 Infiniti Q40 was traveling south on Kingston Avenue when it crossed the median, struck a tree and overturned multiple times. One passenger was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A second passenger remained with the vehicle, but the driver of the vehicle left the area after the crash. Later, the driver, identified as Devontae B. Woodley, 26, turned himself in to authorities. Woodley, of the 1000 block of Amelia Street in Petersburg, has been arrested and charged with felony hit and run, reckless driving and not possessing a valid operator's license. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail on a $25,000 secured bond.
Police continue their investigation into this crash.
