CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred at the Holiday Inn Express at 8710 Midlothian Turnpike at about 12:05 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
Police responded to a reported shooting at the location; upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in the lobby. Soon after, officers found a second adult male shooting victim in a hotel room; this man, identified as Markendrick T. Davis, 22, of the 3200 block of Verdant Drive in Atlanta, Ga., was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
At this point, the investigation indicates the two men shot each other during an altercation in a hotel room. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time.
