CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Police have arrested a man who robbed the SunTrust Bank branch at 12020 Iron Bridge Road at about 12:50 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1. No one was injured during the incident.
Police said the suspect approached a teller and passed a note demanding money. No weapon was displayed during the robbery, but the note indicated the suspect had a weapon. Upon receiving cash, the suspect fled.
Surveillance images of the suspect were released to the public Monday afternoon. After further investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Damon T. Powell, 46, of the 12300 block of East Booker Boulevard in Chesterfield.
Detectives obtained warrants for Powell for robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon with a violent offense on Tuesday, Oct. 2. On Wednesday, Oct. 3, Powell was located and arrested without incident with the assistance of the FBI Richmond Division’s Central Virginia Violent Crimes Task Force.
Powell is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
