CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police have arrested a suspect in relation to a shooting that occurred at the Cook Out restaurant at 8241 Midlothian Turnpike on July 31, 2022.
At about 11:24 p.m. on July 31, police responded to a report that an adult female victim was suffering from a gunshot wound at the location. Officers provided first aid on scene and the victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
On Oct. 13, police released surveillance video of the incident. In the video, the driver of a vehicle could be seen discharging a firearm through the vehicle door; that round struck the adult female victim, who was working in the restaurant.
After further investigation, detectives obtained warrants for Jose D. Hernandez, 23, for reckless handling of a firearm resulting in serious bodily injury, unlawful shooting of another, unlawfully shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and unlawfully discharging a firearm at a building in relation to the incident. Hernandez, of the 300 block of German School Road in Richmond, was arrested on Nov. 8, 2022, and is being held at Riverside Regional Jail without bond.
