CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police will conduct a countywide traffic enforcement operation throughout the month of May.
This month, additional officers will patrol main roads throughout the county and some side streets in areas with known traffic concerns, focusing on speeding, reckless driving, red-light running, impaired driving, mobile device use while driving and pedestrian safety. To date, Chesterfield County Police have investigated nine traffic deaths in 2023; seven of those nine involved excessive speed.
“Traffic deaths are always tragic, but they are often preventable,” said Sgt. Stephan Rouze, who leads the department’s Traffic Safety Section. “As the weather warms up and traffic gets heavier, we will continue to work tirelessly to keep Chesterfield’s roads safe for all.”
As always, police encourage all motorists to buckle up and drive safely and all pedestrians to be visible to drivers, wear reflective clothing, carry a flashlight and cross the roadway in well-lit areas.
