CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police continue to investigate a fatal crash that occurred on Jahnke Road underneath Chippenham Parkway at about 12:54 a.m. on May 9, 2023.
Police said a 2023 Kia Rio was traveling west on Jahnke Road when it struck an adult male, identified as Kelvin A. Ayala-Calles, 38, who was walking in the roadway. The driver of the striking vehicle, identified as Dayja N. Seward, 22, remained on scene. Ayala-Calles, of the 7500 block of Marbrett Drive in Chesterfield, was transported to an area hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries. Seward, of the 6100 block of Westower Drive in Richmond, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
