CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – The Chesterfield County Police Department has released the identity of a man who drowned in the Swift Creek Reservoir on Sunday, June 25.
At about 6:07 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to assist rescue personnel with a potential drowning in the Swift Creek Reservoir near the 5700 block of Promontory Pointe Road. Responding officers learned an adult male had gone into the water and went under without coming back to the surface. Crews searched the reservoir Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and did not locate the victim.
At about 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, a boater spotted the victim’s body and called authorities. Chesterfield Fire & EMS personnel responded and retrieved the body of the man, identified as McDaniel Rucker IV, 71, of the 3500 block of Stoney Ridge Road, from the water.
