CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Chesterfield County Police continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the 7200 block of Beach Road at about 9:09 p.m. on Aug. 28, 2023.
Police said a 2005 Honda Civic, driven by Shane A. Birkhead, 25, was traveling north when it ran off the road to the right, overcorrected, crossed into the southbound lane, and collided with a 2018 Subaru Forrester, which was traveling south. Birkhead, of the 15600 block of Saddlebrook Road, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
