CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – Police continue to investigate a homicide that occurred in the 7400 block of Midlothian Turnpike on Sunday, May 12.
At about 5:15 a.m. on May 12, Chesterfield County Police responded to Chippenham Square Shopping Center located in the 7400 block of Midlothian Turnpike for a report that a man had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered Dwayne R. Reid, 27, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Reid, of the 500 block of Coral Key Place in Newport News, Virginia, was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
On May 12, detectives obtained warrants for Darren Damion Douglas, 29, for second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to this incident.
Douglas, of the 2700 block of 3rd Avenue in Richmond City is described as a black male, five feet five inches tall and 169 pounds. He has black dreadlocks with red tips and brown eyes.
