Juror Qualification Questionnaire Process
  • Chesterfield Circuit Court conducts a two-step process in order to a assemble a group of citizens for jury service.
  • Each year, in August, approximately 30,000 Juror Questionnaires are mailed to randomly selected Chesterfield County residents.
  • The Questionnaire is used to determine who is qualified to serve as a juror in the upcoming year. It is not a summons for jury service.
  • A group of citizens, known as Jury Commissioners, are appointed by the Chief Judge to review the citizen response to the Questionnaire and determine their eligibility.
  • Those citizens who are determined qualified to serve as a juror, are placed in a qualified pool to potentially receive a summons to serve as a juror sometime in the following year.
